Crochet Charity Blankets Gallery

The Gallery of Crocheted Charity Blankets

This page links to photos of some of the charity blankets that we have made out of blocks that were donated by generous crocheters.

Note: check out the article on how to make blocks for charity blankets.

Are Pretty Blankets a Good Goal?

There are a couple of strong opinions on this subject!

On the one hand, there is a fear (undoubtedly well based) that a recipient of one of these charity blankets might sell it if it is too attractive (and use the money inappropriately). There is also a fear that a recipient might just leave it lying around, attracting mud, so why waste time making something pretty?

On the other hand, some of the recipients will be able to recognize that thought and love went into the blankets. Also, those who make these blankets perhaps consider them to be an expression of their own creativity, and therefore would like to be proud of the result. If these artists are comfortable with what might happen to the blankets, then why not have them make something pretty?

I belong to the latter group. So I do try to color-coordinate the blankets, assuming that there are sufficient blocks to do so.
